RITVER INTERCOAT HIGH BUILD EPOXY MASTIC is a two-component high solid, selfpriming high build, polyamide adduct cured epoxy coating specially designed as an intermediate and finishing coat in heavy duty paint system where low VOC and high film build are required. It forms a hard and tough coating, has good wetting properties and low temperature curing. For immersed areas Ritver High Build Epoxy Mastic is only recommended for minor repairs. It can be specified where extended recoating properties for polyurethane topcoats are requested (typically travel coating). May be used directly on cured zinc silicate (GALVOSIL products) or spray metallized surfaces to minimize Popping.

Substrates: Properly prepared steel, over zinc primers, old intact epoxy paints.

Ritver Intercoat High Build Epoxy Mastic is tolerant to mild surface preparation, however for best results ensure that all surfaces must be free of oil, grease moisture and other surface contaminant before grit blasting to near white as per SSPC SP10 or ISO 8501-1 SA 2.5. When used on top of a fully cured Epoxy, it is recommended to abrade the surface to ensure adequate keying.

Adequate ventilation should always be observed when applying Ritver High Build Epoxy Mastic for reasons of health and safety and to ensure proper drying of the material. Never apply this product in adverse weather conditions such as when the temperature is below 5oC or when the humidity level is above 90%. The surface temperature should always be kept at not less than 3 degree above dew point.

The viscosity of the product should be ideal for application and can be applied by brush or airless spray.

A normal brush or a roller may be used for difficult shapes or hard to reach areas and for touch up. When applied by airless spray, ensure that the pressure be at 2100 psi for best atomization. Nozzle size should be 0.021 – 0.025 inches. In cases where the viscosity increased as in cold weather conditions, add Ritver Epoxy Thinner to adjust the viscosity for proper application. The percentage will depend on the extent of the viscosity increase and the application used.
