Odorless waterborne wood preservative matt topcoat clear finishing is suitable for varnishing outdoor handicrafts such as door and window frames, blinds, shutters and main doors having “stable dimensions”. These thick finishes are provided with excellent characteristics of elasticity, clearness, weatherability and resistance against blocking. Besides, they have low solvent contents and excellent flow levelling. The varnished substrate is soft to the touch, scratch resistant and demands little maintenance in the course of time. These products do not contain any biocides but contain a filter that adsorbs UV light, guarantees outstanding and long – lasting protection.

Particulary suitable timbers:
Fir wood – pine – swedish pine – yellow pine – hemlock – douglas fir – larch – canadian cedar – meranti- spruce (for meranti do a preliminary test to control the compatibility with the varnishing cycle used).
Unsuitable timbers:
Iroko – oak – cedrella – niangon – ash – teak – siberian larch (to treat these timbers contact our Technical Service Department).

All timber species must be fully aged with a moisture content of less than 15%. Surface must be dry, clean and free from contaminations. Natural oil or gum must be removed by solvent cleaning.
Single coat cycle
Apply directly on the totally dry basecoat or brush the substrate with a 120 grain brush (for water primers) .Always check the perfect drying of the impregnated substrate, as traces of solvent could damage the film of the finish coating afterwards. Besides, this inconvenience can cause small defect and scarce gripping of the film on the pieces impairing, as the result, the characteristic of outdoor resistance of the varnished substrate Apply a 250-300 micron wet thickness in order to guarantee top outdoor resistance. Many coats have to be applied so that this thickness is achieved. Make sure that the air bubbles, carried by the varnish on the piece, are let out. Hasty applications bring about low quality finishing aesthetically speaking (scarce clearness, pinholes in the film which increase the absorption of humidity, film greying) and dripping in winter time as well.

In according with Catas certification (EN972-2 performance specification), the appropriate cycle to follow is:
 2 coats of 150g/m2 flow coating of wood preservative sealer water base for exterior WB711
 3 coats of 150g/m2 of top coat water base for exterior WT73X0

For details of spray equipment contact Ritver Technical Services Department.
The atmospheric temperature should be between 5ºc to 35 ºc and the relative humidity should not exceed of 70% during the application. To insure maximum weathering resistance ,we advice applying 1 coat of water borne top coat and wait deep drying around 24 hrs, for apply second coat.

The products is supplied ready to use with spray gun. In the cold months of the year it is not advisable to thin down the product but it is better to use the pre-heater set between 35 and 45°C. In the warmer months we recommend water thinning from 5 to 10% max, and to use the pre-heater at a maximum temperature of 35°C
Suggested nozzles: airless – 011 fixed or 020 adjustable with pressure 4 atm/bar
Spray gun – 2.5 mm. with pressure 3.5 atm/bar
It is advisable to wash the varnishing tools immediately after their use.
If a higher surface hardness and resistance to household chemicals is required, the product can be crosslinked with 5% of CP0101. The crosslinked product must be used within 4 hours from preparation, any leftover shall be mixed with fresh product 1:1 and the total quantity crosslinked again with 5% of CP0101

After drying this product does not need any particular subsequent treatment. We suggest a maintenance operation in the time (clean and dust removing, other coat of product applied when necessary) to assure better durability.
As waterborne varnishes have lesser resistance against aggressive chemical agents compared to traditional varnishes. We advise to clean the piece with water and a neutral detergent. Ammonia and-or alcohol-base solutions can seriously damage the varnish film. We suggest to wash the piece at least once every six months, in order to reduce as much as possible the chemical aggression of acid rain and of air pollution.
